As I grow older, I realize I am 2Old to do some of the things I used to do, but I can still accomplish some of my unfulfilled teenage dreams. As a 17 year old kid I wanted to build myself a hot rod but did not have the resources. Life and family soon took precedence and I have worked hard for those I love, to give them the opportunities I didn't have, to help them reach their life goals and dreams. Now in my early 60's I am going back to do what I couldn't way back then and I am enjoying the journey.
As a teenager I mostly had small block chevys so I bought a miled out 350 engine with a 4 bolt main to be the heart of my project. I wanted to build a 383 stroker and to do as much of the work as I possibly could. There was a lot to learn, and I enjoy learning. I made some mistakes along the way but that is just part of the learning process. You can follow the engine build here Old School SBC 383 Stroker
I typically work alone in my garage. I don't do car shows or attend events. I like the solitude of working alone and listening to music from the 70's and 80's. When complete, I do intend to go to a few tracks to benchmark my work. Maybe I will see you there.
